Wintertime is a wonderful opportunity to spend some time outside in the snow with the whole family. And Brock Township has a wide range of fun ways to spend a cool winter day exploring nature and learning new skills!
The Beaverton Lions Winter Carnival is a full-day event on February 3, 2024, starting with a Pancake Breakfast on the second floor of the Foster Hewitt Arena in Beaverton, Ontario. The Pancake Breakfast starts at 8:00 AM, and by 9:00 AM there will be so much to do, at both the Arena and in the Beaverton Fairgrounds. If you want to try something a little less structured, go for a winter hike on the Beaver River Wetland Trail. The trail is 17 km of abandoned railway tracks, stretching between Blackwater and Cannington. Prepare a homemade scavenger hunt or bring your winter bird guide and see who stays home for the winter!
You can finish up your winter walk with some hot pizza from any of our local pizzerias: Two Brothers or Crusty’s Pizza in Sunderland, or Papa Enrico’s in Cannington.
February 17-19, 2024 is Free Family Fishing weekend. You can get on the ice and see what you can catch – no fishing licence required! Beaverton Harbour offers a lovely pier, wonderful views, and the opportunity to see fish huts across Lake Simcoe.

February 19, 2024 is also Fairhaven’s Winter Family Day. Learn how to cross-country ski or learn how to identity wildlife on a nature hike. Children are free to attend and adults are $15/person, there is also a $5.00 per person Pancake lunch available, or you can pack your own lunch to enjoy around a campfire. www.fairhavens.org
